Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj : The unsung warrior


The Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was the second Chhatrapati of Maratha empire, Who ruled from 1681 to 1689. He was the first son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (founder of Maratha Empire).

Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's story begin with a tragedy. He was only 2 years old when his mother passed away, in this situation his grandmother jijabai took care of him and raised him. 

He was very intelligent since beginning, He learnt 13 languages along with Sanskrit, he also knew Portuguese which helped him fight against Portuguese colonizers in Goa. Aurangzeb jailed him and his father  when he was 9 years old, but he was different he not knows how to give up, somehow they escaped from jail. 

After Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj died he tooks his place when he was 23 years old. Sambhaji Maharaj knew that for Swarajya foreign rulers had to go and an independent economic system had to be built.


                     


Aurangzeb had a fort in the Aurangabad, the fort had enough riches to sustain Maratha empire, he attacked that fort and conquered it, He Defeated Aurangzeb multiple times repeatedly. A force of 20,000 Marathas faced off 8 lakh Mughals army, when Aurangzeb wanted to take help of the Portuguese navy, Sambhaji Maharaj defeated this navy as well.

In a span of 9 years, Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj won 120 battles.

At, last his own family members betrayed him, they told Aurangzeb about an intelligence route from where Sambhaji Maharaj will go then Aurangzeb caught him and tortured him.

Sadly, He died in 3 April 1680. A salute to him for kept Swarajya movement alive.
